Notice regarding HMO insurance plans:
If you have an HMO with one of the following medical groups (Silver Cross, Pronger Smith, St. James, or Ingalls) you may see one of our therapists “out of network” and without a physician referral and Illinois law requires your insurance to cover 50% of the cost based on your diagnosis. Coverage should be given for people with the following diagnosis: Panic Disorder, OCD, Major Depression, PTSD, Bipolar disorder, childhood or teenage depression, Pervasive Developmental Disorders (PDD, Autism, Asperger’s) Schizophrenia, and other “serious” mental health problems. State law requires remibursement for “severe” diagnosis, including Major Depression, Bipolar disorder, OCD, and several others, if the services are medically necessary.
Co-pays are set fees, usually between $5 and $40 per session.
Coinsurance is a percentage of the contracted rate that you pay and it is usually between 10% and 60%.
Deductibles are the amount you must pay before your insurance company starts to pay anything. Deductibles vary between $100 and $500.
High deductible plans (HSA) are becomming popular, and vary from $1000 per individual to $5,000 or more per family.
“Sliding Scale” – if we are not a contracted provider for your insurance company, or if you have no insurance coverage, then Illinois law allows medical providers to charge whatever they want. However, we are willing to negotiate a rate with you prior to starting services. Generally, the lowest fee we charge for persons with no insurance is $50.00 per hour. We do have an intern, currently, and the rate is lower for therapy in that case.
Payment Plans: We may be able to arrange payment plans depending upon your situation. Unfortunately, healthcare providers are not permitted to waive any fees if they are contracted with your insurance provider and must attempt to collect fees using standard collection methods, including bills, collection agencies and collection attorneys.
